Due
to the vast trading territories of the Jula, their language is now spoken
by many; however, the Jula have maintained their ethnic separateness
from other people groups, due largely to the way they distinguish themselves
from other religions. Even in Jula families, separation is made from
a non-Muslim. If you take away a Jula's "Muslimness," you
take away their "Julaness." Religion, culture and identity
are tightly wound around each other, to the point of creating the single
unit known as Jula.
